My research project on Gosford is defined

This week I formally submitted my project proposal for my case study of the empty spaces initiative in Gosford.

I will be conducting the project under the working title 'The Road to Empty Spaces Gosford: A case study of how to set up creative enterprise hubs with Create, Innovate Gosford as a key example'

The aim of the project is to create an internet resource on the Empty Spaces website to other upcoming projects throughout NSW and Australia, as well as to provide documentaton of the start-up phase of the Gosford Project itself.

The Create, Innovate Gosford initiative, was launched in April 2010, and thus it is in its fairly early stages of progress. As such my project will focus on the early stages of establishing a empty spaces style project in the particular local region of Gosford.

While currently unused shops in Gosford city centre’s main street have been identified as ‘empty spaces’, and some local artists have been identified as candidates to occupy the shops, the artists have yet to take up residence.

My research project will focus on how local needs of place will affect the implementation of this empty space initiative. In particular, the project has been informed by local youth unemployment figures and an overall aim of regeneration of the Gosford city centre through the initiative.
