Pop-Up Shops launch in North Sydney

The Pop-Up Shop Demonstration is a six-month pilot from North Sydney Council to provide the Crows Nest community with opportunities to engage with arts and culture and enliven the town centre.The two council-owned pop-up art shops being used for the pilot will also feature an exciting range of free creative programs for community participation.

North Sydney Mayor Genia McCaffery opening the Pop-Up shop in Burlington street.The Pop-Up Shop Demonstration was launched on 2 August, 2012, by North Sydney Mayor, Genia McCaffery, who said, "It's fantastic to see these shops filled with such beautiful and unusual crafts and artwork.

"The pop-up shops are also a wonderful opportunity for people to learn more about different craft and art skills and I'm sure many people will take advantage of the free workshops that are planned."

The eight artists who will be using the shops during the six months include:

  • Tina Fox, Cremorne-based textile designer specialising in cross stitch and embroidery
  • Pat Anderson, ceramic sculptor from North Sydney
  • Cammeray artist, Michele Morcos, and
  • Crows Nest millinery designer Ani Choubouk.
