Pop-up Store Supports Local Artists in Ryde

Merge Contemporary Artspace is a pop-up shop founded by Tegan O’Brien with support from Ryde City Council in conjunction with Macquarie Centre. The store launched on 24 January 2013 and will be at Macquarie Centre until April.

Merge Contemporary ArtspaceMerge is about providing opportunities for artists to both exhibit and sell their work as well as offering the community a chance to purchase handcrafted pieces. The works range from silicon bowls, to ceramic, silver, brass and silicon jewellery of various forms and colours, to handmade sewn and crocheted toys and painted, digital and photographic art.

An ongoing textile project hangs in the corner of the store. Tegan along with the other volunteers that are managing the space, Hayley Brown, Rebecca Lea and Lauren Cha, crochet pieces  which are added to the installation daily, creating a work of art that will grow and evolve for the entirety of the Pop-Up.
