Downer Village, Canberra: Artist seeking collaborators to use empty shops

Downer Village is a set of old shops in the middle of the suburb of Downer, Canberra. For a few years now they have been empty and are steadily growing more derelict, attracting vandals and squatters and creating other problems associated with unoccupied buildings.

Georgina Edward aims to gain permission to use these shops as a space where young artists, designers, musicians and whoever wants to be involved can use the spaces as gallery, studio, performance spaces etc.

She wants to start up an artist collective to support and the young, underground arts movement in Canberra; to create something exciting and new.

Anyone who would like to get involved - whether artistic, creative, or just plain interested - can contact Georgina at george.is.also@gmail.com
