The Rocks Pop-Up in 2012: Call for creative proposals for space use

Dates Mon, 23 Jan 2012 11:45 am

Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority is inviting NSW based arts and creative organisations to submit proposals for The Rocks Pop-Up 2012.

During 2011 the Authority in partnership with Arts NSW introduced their pilot program promoting the short term use of vacant spaces by local and emerging creatives—The Rocks Pop-Up Project.

The project engaged over 40,000 visitors through 10 spaces, with more than 20 creative practitioners and organisations participating. Now, thanks to the pilot's huge success, Pop-Ups in Sydney’s historic old town quarter will be continuing in 2012.

The Rocks Pop-Up activates temporarily vacant buildings by providing creative workers with access to affordable space, while a long term tenant is secured. Premises can be used by participants to create work, showcase design and artwork, and host unique events, such as small-scale performances and screenings.

Creative partners and organisations with a focus on exhibition and collaboration are NOW invited to make a proposal to participate during 2012.

Successful applicants will enter into licence agreements to manage the spaces and coordinate use by artists and creative workers under their umbrella.
